The area remains generally dry and toasty through the weekend. We
can`t rule out brief, isolated showers across our interior most
counties in the afternoon hours each day (especially today and
Friday), but the vast majority of the area will remain dry. In fact,
there are already a few spotty showers developing north of
Highway 84 as of 19z this afternoon. That said, the heat will
continue to increase each afternoon through at least the early
part of the weekend with highs on Saturday soaring into the upper
90s across inland communities in south Alabama and south
Mississippi.
A pattern change is possible as we roll into the early to middle
part of next week, which might alleviate some of the dryness. The
guidance remains split on the timing and amplitude of the next
trough with some guidance not even bringing the trough into our
region in the middle to latter part of the week. So while we do have
rain chances increasing Tuesday through Thursday, just know that
those percentages may bounce around (up and down) until the models
get a better handle on that next system.
