.DISCUSSION... (This afternoon through next Wednesday)

WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW: Skies are sunny across northern and central Nevada this afternoon. This is because of high pressure over southern Idaho. A closed upper low off the coast of California will be the next weather maker for central Nevada tomorrow. For tonight, look for mostly clear skies, though clouds will be on the increase tomorrow morning across central Nevada. Overnight lows will be in the 40s and 50s.

For Thursday and Thursday night, models are in good agreement the upper level ridge axis will be shifting to the east with the closed upper low shifting east. Clouds and light precipitation will spread across central Nevada during the day. Highs on Thursday will be in the 80s in the north but only in the 70s in central Nevada due to the cloud cover and light precipitation. Winds will be light except in central Nevada where gusts to 20 mph are possible. The upper trough is forecast to drift to the south during the overnight with shower chances diminishing towards Friday morning (ten to twenty percent) from north to south. Lows will be in the 30s and 40s.

Friday and Friday night, the upper low will be spinning in southern California by Friday afternoon and evening. Only light isolated showers are expected south of US Highway 50. In the north, look for mostly sunny skies. Highs will be in the 80s in the north with 70s in the central. Winds will remain light with gusts to 15 mph. Skies will be mostly clear for the night with lows in the 40s.

There will be a brief break in the weather for Saturday with another round coming late Sunday through the early portions of next week. Highs Saturday will be in the 80s in the north, 70s in the south. Look for a cooling trend at all locations Sunday through next week due to cloud cover and increasing chances for precipitation. Overnight lows will be in the 40s.

FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS: Confidence is moderate to high on the incoming system from the eastern Pacific. Confidence is moderate on the next storm system on Sunday. No changes were made to the NBM forecast.
