Today and Tonight...
Deep layer ridging remains in control today with surface high pressure centered just to our northeast resulting in light, dry, northeasterlies. Some consideration was given to the potential for fire conditions this afternoon as RH dives to around 30% but mostly green fuels and light winds suggest the risk still remains low. Highs today will be substantially above normal, mostly in the lower and middle 90s F, cooling into the middle and upper 60s F tonight. Rain chances, perhaps unsurprisingly, will be near zero across the area.
Through Next Week...
Few changes in the overall pattern are expected over the next several days as upper ridging remains dominant through the work week. This will result in generally dry, warm conditions through much of the period. Each day with low RH and the absence of rainfall will result in increasing fire weather concerns and it is likely that some fire weather hazards will need to be highlighted heading into next week. Some guidance suggests weak troughing may try to nose in from the west in the 6-7 day timeframe and that could result in a weak front accompanied by showers at that time but confidence in such an outcome is currently low. For now, though, that risk for a few showers represents the only meaningful chance for rain for the foreseeable future. /86/
