.DISCUSSION...

KEY MESSAGES:

- Warm temperatures and dry weather are largely expected over the next few days, at least through Tuesday.

- As the ridge breaks down, chances for precipitation begin by Tuesday night into the second half of the week.

- There is moderate confidence of a cool down occurring next weekend.

WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW:

The upper ridge will remain over the northern plains through at least Tuesday. Temperatures will be above average through Tuesday as the upper low of the desert southwest opens up and lifts north. With the weakening of this low and the movement onshore of the east Pacific trough, moisture will begin to increase across the region with southwest flow aloft.

On Wednesday afternoon and Thursday night, a few weak shortwave troughs will lift across the region, pushing a cold front and the possibility of showers through eastern Montana. Only a small change in temperature is expected through Friday. There is a change in pattern for the upcoming weekend for cooler than average weather, but there remains high uncertainty in the details of precipitation opportunities.

FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS: Used manual edits and NBM90 to increase winds through the early morning tomorrow. No other deviations. Forecast confidence is described in the discussion above.
