1983 - A thunderstorm downburst caused a timber blowdown in the Kaibab National Forest north of the Grand Canyon. Two hundred acres were completely destroyed, and scattered destruction occurred across another 3300 acres. Many trees were snapped off 15 to 30 feet above ground level.

Hickory Creek is a town in Denton County, Texas, United States, located 30 miles (48 km) north of downtown Dallas. The population of Hickory Creek has grown from 219 at its incorporation in 1963 to 4,718 at the 2020 census. It is also one of the four communities in the Lake Cities.
Hickory Creek was recognized by Tree City USA in August 2008.
