.SHORT TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/... Issued at 346 PM CDT Tue Sep 23 2025
The main concern in the short term will be the showers and thunderstorms through the evening hours. Moisture transport has been fairly efficient within the heavy bands of rain that have set up across southwest Nebraska. So far amounts of around 2 to 4 inches of rainfall have fallen within the narrow bands of heavy rainfall. Have started to see dry air moving in from the north and a secondary band of heavy rainfall developing across far southwestern Nebraska, thus current thinking is the original band of heavy rainfall, generally along the I-80 corridor will begin to decrease as the southern band becomes the dominate band and the dry air overspreads. This will also help to shift the rainfall southward, with eventually rainfall moving south and out of the area by late evening, with rain ending for the CWA by midnight. Could see additional rainfall amounts around 0.5 to 1 inch across heavier rain bands. Could still see some minor flooding in low-lying areas the remainder of this afternoon and evening, within the heaviest rainfall bands.
After the rain moves out of the area tonight, drier conditions expected for Wednesday with highs reaching the low 70s.

.LONG TERM /WEDNESDAY THROUGH TUESDAY/... Issued at 346 PM CDT Tue Sep 23 2025
An upper level ridge builds in across the western CONUS that will start to moderate temperatures through the week. Highs will reach the 80s by Friday, which is around 10 to 15 degrees above normal for this time of year. A front will push through late Friday, bringing cooler temperatures on Saturday with highs in the mid to upper 70s.

.AVIATION /00Z TAFS THROUGH 00Z THURSDAY/... Issued at 649 PM CDT Tue Sep 23 2025
VFR conditions are expected through the forecast period.
Lingering rain and low stratus will persist through the evening hours but should remain VFR conditions at both terminals. Early Wednesday morning, patchy fog will be possible across the region but confidence in conditions below VFR remain low. Breezy northwest winds will develop after daybreak Wednesday but gusts will be limited to around 20 knots. Sky coverage will gradually wane with mostly clear skies likely by the end of the forecast period.
