.DISCUSSION...through Wednesday.

Our next system remains on track to impact southeastern California, southern Nevada, and northwest Arizona tomorrow as a trough swings through the area. This trough will bring gusty southwesterly winds to the region, with multiple wind headlines in effect for portions of San Bernardino County and the Spring Mountains of Southern Nevada, where 40+ mph wind gusts are expected throughout the day tomorrow. Elsewhere, wind gusts will top out in the 30 to 40 mph range with isolated 40+ mph gusts possible in areas of higher terrain. Starting early tomorrow morning, localized 40+ mph southerly downslope winds are expected across Highway 95 near Desert Rock-Mercury. However, due to the isolated nature of these winds, no wind headlines have been issued at this time. Outside of winds, this system will also bring a 30 to 60% chance of isolated showers to the higher terrain of Inyo County and the Great Basin. With snow- levels around 9,000 to 10,000 feet, precipitation is expected to fall as rain outside of the Sierra Crest, where they will see their first dusting of the season with an inch or two possible along the ridgeline.

The progressive nature of this system means that it`ll be out of our area by Saturday. In its wake, drier conditions, cooler temperatures, and lighter breezes. Ensembles continue to indicate a reloading/persistent trough over the western US through the middle of next week, which means the aforementioned conditions are likely to linger, albeit with a slight moderation in temperatures toward seasonable values.
