Today through Saturday night...
An upper trough extends from Canada to the northern Rocky Mountains and northern Plains. Winds across south central and central Nebraska and north central Kansas are out of the south mostly between 10 to 15 mph with gusts possibly getting up to 20 to 25 mph this afternoon. High temperatures today will be in the low to mid 80s. A cold front will begin to move into the area tonight with low temperatures ranging from the low to upper 50s. Winds will initially be gusty out of the north with gusts up to around 20 to 25 mph Saturday morning as the cold front continues moving through the area then will weaken by/during the afternoon. A surface high centered over South Dakota will extend southward over Nebraska and much of Kansas Saturday afternoon. High temperatures on Saturday will be in the mid 70s to low/mid 80s. Winds will be light and somewhat variable Saturday night with low temperatures in the upper 40s to mid 50s.
Sunday through Monday night...
An upper ridge will be over most of the Midwest on Sunday with an upper trough over the Desert Southwest. Winds across south central and central Nebraska and north central Kansas will generally be out of the southeast with gusts up to around 15 to 20 mph during the afternoon. Temperatures on Sunday are expected to warm up from the previous day with highs generally in the 80s. Southerly winds will be across the area Sunday night with low temperatures in the upper 50s to lower 60s. Winds will increase out of the south with gusts up to around 20 to 30 mph Monday afternoon as a surface trough moves over western Nebraska and western Kansas. This will result in temperatures on Monday warming up into the 80s across the whole area. Low temperatures Monday night will be similar to the previous night.
Tuesday through Thursday...
Weak upper troughing will be over the area on Tuesday with winds out of the south to southeast. High temperatures on Tuesday will be similar to those on Monday with highs in the low to mid 80s. Low temperatures Tuesday night will continue to be similar to previous nights. An upper trough will mainly be over western Nebraska on Wednesday. This may produce enough lift across the area to result in showers and thunderstorms enough chances remain very low (less than 10%) at this time. High temperatures on Wednesday will be in the upper 70s to mid 80s. Low temperatures Wednesday night will be in the mid 50s to low 60s with chances of showers and storms increasing to 10% to near 20%. Similar conditions to Wednesday are expected on Thursday.
