.DISCUSSION... Issued at 1220 PM CDT Sun Sep 7 2025
Tonight...
Dewpoints are much lower today than 24 hours ago with some areas bottoming out in the upper 40s F with efficient daytime mixing under full sun this afternoon. As mixing diminishes with a lowering sun, we`ll see the dewpoints rebound a bit but still remain rather dry, only in the 50s F overnight. With skies remaining clear, most areas will see overnight lows into the mid/upper 50s F with lows around 60 F for the highway 84 corridor. Winds will generally decrease overnight but likely remain sufficient to help keep any fog concerns shallow and localized. For most, this break from heat will be largely pleasant and for those of us that share that opinion, we will be enjoying this almost-crisp early taste of Fall. As is often the case, these breaks can be brief this time of year and we`ll see moderating conditions to near normal levels by mid week. /86/
Monday through the weekend...
Not much to talk about in the mid and extended period. Quiet weather conditions with slightly below normal late summer conditions will exist across our forecast area Monday through Monday night thanks to north to northeast flow. The remainder of the extended period will remain generally quiet Tuesday through Thursday. Global guidance continues to show mid/upper level troughing beginning to slowly slide east across the area through Thursday evening. This will allow for ridging aloft to gradually build into the region from the west. Regarding the rain chances, portions of southeast MS could see a slight chance of scattered showers by Tuesday afternoon, with afternoon PoPs between 15-25%. Ridging aloft will continue across our CWA Friday with afternoon highs peaking into the low 90s areawide. Quiet conditions will persist through the weekend. /CR/
