.KEY MESSAGES...

- Dry conditions the next 7 days with cool mornings and warm afternoons

&&

.SHORT TERM (THROUGH SUNDAY)... Upper level ridging will build into the region today and remain in place through the weekend, between troughs over the southwest and southeast U.S. Dry conditions with clear to partly skies are forecast across south-central Texas. A weak east to southeast flow resumes this evening into Saturday morning, with a very shallow moisture return forecast. Despite this, mixing will allow dew points to bottom out in the 50s Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Morning low temperatures in the 60s should be common, but low-lying valleys, especially across the Hill Country, could dip into the upper 50s. Afternoon highs will continue to run slightly above average.

&&

.LONG TERM (SUNDAY NIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY)... The ridge aloft briefly weakens Monday and Tuesday as the southwest U.S. trough dampens and moves east into the central CONUS. This could bring a brief increase in mid and high clouds to the region. South-central Texas will remain in a dry northwest flow aloft Wednesday through Friday, between a ridge centered over Mexico and low over the southeast U.S. Continued dry conditions and slightly warmer temperatures are forecast the latter half of the week.

&&

.AVIATION (12Z FRIDAY THROUGH SATURDAY)... VFR flying conditions are expected tonight through Saturday with any clouds AOA FL060. Light winds will remain mostly NE but could be shifty with decoupling. NE Winds should pick up to around 5-7 knot for most areas and maybe turn more due east late in the day, at least for the I-35 sites. Meanwhile, DRT will make the full transition to SE winds by midday. Nighttime winds will decouple again and be shifty with a SW winds expected to develop over I-35 in the 24-30 hour time-frame.
