.DISCUSSION... (Tonight through next Sunday) Issued at 1036 PM CDT Sun Sep 7 2025

Cool and dry conditions will persist on Monday as surface high pressure continues to build into the Mid-South. Afternoon highs will be a few degrees below normal, in the upper 70s to lower 80s.

Unfortunately, pleasant temperatures will not stick around for long as an Omega block forms by midweek. The center of a 593 dam ridge will shift east on Wednesday, allowing WAA into the Mid- South. Temperatures will warm each day with highs on Friday in the mid 90s. While temperatures will be hot, this heat wave will not be oppressive. Daily lows in the 60s and dewpoints in the upper 50s will keep heat indices well below heat headline threshold.

As for precipitation, the upcoming work week will be dry. Current areas of D1 moderate drought may worsen to D2 severe drought by the end of the week.

VFR. Light NE winds generally 5-9 kts.

.FIRE WEATHER... Issued at 1036 PM CDT Sun Sep 7 2025

Increased fire danger will exist this week as prolonged dry conditions lower fuel moisture. In addition, MinRH values will remain in the 30 to 40 percent range. Luckily, light 20ft winds should hamper wildfire spread, but any vegetation that does ignite will have plenty of dry fuels to work with.
