Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Tallahassee FL 635 AM EDT Tue Sep 9 2025

...New AVIATION...

.NEAR TERM... (Today and tonight) Issued at 235 AM EDT Tue Sep 9 2025

A stationary front draped offshore will again be the main focus for afternoon showers and storms today. Further inland, dry and warm conditions are forecast to persist with highs in the 80s and lows in the mid 60s to low 70s. Overall, a fairly pleasant day is on tap for the region. Enjoy!

&&

.SHORT TERM AND LONG TERM... (Wednesday through Monday) Issued at 235 AM EDT Tue Sep 9 2025

The stationary boundary to our south continues it`s gradual equatorward push as surface high pressure to our north continues to move southeastward. Wednesday will be the last day with reasonable rain chances across the FL Big Bend. After Wednesday the stationary boundary provides little to no support for showers and/or storms as high pressure starts to build overhead. PoP chances drop to near nil heading into the weekend and the early part of next week. A drop in dew points into the 50 and low 60s Thursday and beyond will lead to mostly clear skies and good radiational cooling conditions overnight. Likewise, daytime high temps will also creep back up into the low 90s.

Expect daytime highs generally in the upper 80s to low 90s with overnight lows generally in the 60s.

&&

.AVIATION... (12Z TAFS) Issued at 634 AM EDT Tue Sep 9 2025

VFR conditions are generally expected through the period. A few instances of MVFR will be possible for a few hours this morning and again overnight, but confidence is too low to include for now. Also expect a few showers and storms over the SE FL Big Bend this afternoon, but confidence in impacts to terminals is also low.

&&

.MARINE... Issued at 235 AM EDT Tue Sep 9 2025

Persistent northeast flow over the next several days with high pressure situated northeast of the waters and a stalled frontal boundary/low pressure to the south over the Gulf. The pressure gradient between these features will tighten at times, leading to winds around 20 to 25 knots and seas ranging from 3 to 7 feet thru Wednesday. The Small Craft Advisory remains in effect thru early Wednesday afternoon. Conditions gradually improve on Thursday where they drop down to Cautionary, then below Cautionary heading into the weekend.

&&

.FIRE WEATHER... Issued at 235 AM EDT Tue Sep 9 2025

Breezy northeast transport winds are expected for the next several days with mixing heights getting increasingly higher each afternoon. This will lead to pockets of high dispersions each day with higher confidence and more widespread coverage of high dispersions each subsequent day. Warm and dry conditions are expected for most of the area, however RH values should remain above critical thresholds.

&&

.HYDROLOGY... Issued at 235 AM EDT Tue Sep 9 2025

Little in the way of rainfall is expected through the next week. There are currently no flooding concerns.
