.DISCUSSION...

KEY MESSAGES:

- A warm ridge of high pressure brings a return to summer-like conditions starting today.

- Daily chances for showers and thunderstorms return to our region by the midweek.

WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW:

A warm upper level ridge of high pressure over the Pacific NW is drifting eastward into Montana over the next few days. This will allow for clear/sunny skies aside from some high clouds, low humidity and high temperatures notably rebounding to as warm as the upper 80s from today into midweek.

The next low pressure system will push into the Pacific NW and orient some SW flow aloft approaching NE Montana as early as Tuesday evening. This will direct more Pacific moisture and some instability into our region and set the stage for a return to more scattered thunderstorms later next week. At this time, model data is unclear regarding placement and timing of these storms. Those details will become more clear by midweek.

FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS:

Stayed close to the base forecast besides adding some detail to short term winds and humidities. There is high confidence in the forecast through Tuesday, then more average confidence thereafter for the extent of rain chances and amounts.
