761 FXUS61 KILN 081230 AFDILNArea Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Wilmington OH 830 AM EDT Mon Sep 8 2025
.SYNOPSIS... High pressure will provide dry conditions through much of the week. Temperatures will gradually moderate back to more seasonable readings as the week progresses.
&&
.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 PM THIS EVENING/... An upper level trough continues to pivot through the area, but is only amounting to high based clouds with shallow moisture at about the 700mb level with very dry conditions above and below. The trough becomes more shallow as it continues to depart the region with surface high pressure building in.
With lingering low level moisture in especially the SE forecast area and very light winds, expecting primarily valley fog overnight tonight with the loss of the clouds from the departing upper trough/shortwave. A little drier than this morning, so current expectations are not to be as dense as this morning.
Very cool overnight lows, with record low temperature at CVG/DAY/CMH at 44/42/39, respectively. So not expecting records to be broken here, but some valley areas could get as cool as upper 30s.
&&
.SHORT TERM /6 PM THIS EVENING THROUGH 6 PM TUESDAY/... As surface high pressure builds into the region, area becomes increasingly dry with only a few diurnal cumulus on Monday. Light winds become SE and then pivot SW as weak WAA begins to enter the region. Below normal temperatures persist, however, with highs in the lower to mid 70s.
&&
.LONG TERM /TUESDAY NIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY/... Overall expect a quiet and dry week. There are subtle signals late in the week where there is potential for some areas to see rain, however the signal is not consistent enough to have enough confidence to include in the forecast at this time. Highs on Tuesday are expected to be in the 70s and 80s, however 80s are expected for highs the rest of the week. Lows Tuesday night are expected to be in the 40s and 50s, with lows in the 50s expected the remainder of the week.
&&
.AVIATION /13Z MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY/... VFR conditions are generally expected through the TAF period, however cannot rule out some river valley fog at KLUK. Diurnal cu are expected to develop today, otherwise expect clear skies. Winds will generally be light and less than 10 knots.
OUTLOOK...No significant weather expected.
