.DISCUSSION... Today will be warmer than yesterday with more sunshine and a little less humid. Moisture has generally moved out of the region, except enough remains for afternoon and early evening showers and thunderstorms over the higher elevations of the Sierra Nevada for today and Sunday. Mist and haze will remain in the Central Valley with a brief reduction in visibility as temperatures near the dewpoint during the morning on Sunday. A few locations in the southern SJ Valley reported visibility around 1 to 2 miles briefly this morning. Latest satellite imagery shows cloud buildups beginning over the Sierra Nevada while the low clouds along the foothills evaporate late this morning.
Convection becomes a little more widespread over the higher elevations of the Sierra on Sunday with slightly increased chances (10-15 percent today vs. 15-20 percent on Sunday). Warming will continue into early next week, though not expected unseasonably warm. Probabilities for highs in the lower 90`s increase noticeably for Monday and Tuesday (50-80 percent) in the Central Valley with lesser chances in the Kern County desert (30-50 percent).
While Tuesday will be one of the warmest days next week, we`re looking at the return of showers and thunderstorms across the region. Even the San Joaquin Valley is looking at another opportunity for some light to moderate showers with isolated thunderstorms. Some remnant moisture will continue a slight chance for showers in the valley into Wednesday, with the mountain areas seeing a better chance for redeveloping thunderstorms. Otherwise, a slight lowering in temperatures will occur for Wednesday and the remainder of next week.
